The Midwest isn't given enough credit sometimes. I'll admit, I like to complain about how flat the land is and how cold the winters are. The truth is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You may have to go in search of it sometimes, but thus far I have never been let down.
When you chase enticing locations, it's almost as if you are looking into a bottomless pit. It's handed to you, there is no conquest. The times that I have gone off wandering, looking for something to inspire or uplift me, is always so much more rewarding when found in an unexpected place. Sometimes it's even in my own backyard.
This was a picture I took at a local reservoir in my hometown. I've run countless laps around here, took walks with my grandmother, discovered the backwoods and spent summers jumping over creeks and catching frogs with my friends. When you slow down and look, you will find.
I have hopes to move to a bigger city in the near future, not because I am in search of beauty. I will seek it out wherever my life takes me. I have always spent my life looking for the next best thing. I used to blame it on living in Ohio, I moved to LA and still something was missing and I came back home in hopes of pursuing something that had only been a concept. I learned that as long as you are a beautiful person on the inside, life will always inspire you, no matter where you are. It's okay to be from the Midwest and know about art, fashion, music, photography, whatever your passion may be and not be ashamed of it.
My goal in life is to inspire and be inspired.
